16.12.2017 - Short Film 'Never Was the Shade' by Lim Kean Hian Wins the BMW Shorties 2017 Grand Prize

Kuala Lumpur, 16 December 2017 – 'Never Was the Shade', a short film by Lim Kean Hian, has emerged as the Grand Prize Winner for the BMW Shorties 2017. Lim Kean Hian’s winning entry will receive a production grant of RM75,000 from BMW Group Malaysia, alongside guidance and mentorship from the competition’s panel of judges to produce his next professional short film.

16.11.2017 - BMW Group Malaysia Reveals Top Finalists of the BMW Shorties 2017 at the BMW Shorties Festival 2017.

19.12.2016 - Short Film 'Hawa' by Tan Ce Ding Wins the BMW Shorties 2016 Grand Prize.

Kuala Lumpur, 19 December 2016 – 'Hawa' , a short film by Tan Ce Ding has emerged as the Grand Prize Winner for the BMW Shorties 2016. The 10th Edition of the BMW Shorties received 115 films, its highest number of entries and shortlisted 12 finalists for contention in the competition this year.

For the first time in its decade-long history, the short film competition receives its highest number of submissions with 115 short films.

Kuala Lumpur, 22 September 2016 – BMW Group Malaysia premiered ‘Funeral’, the latest BMW Shorties production by the Grand Prize winner of BMW Shorties 2015, Sky Gan Yu Long. As with his award-winning film ‘Fish’ last year, Sky’s latest short film demonstrates his singular approach towards storytelling through dialogue-sparse scenes and emotive subject matters.

09.09.2016 - The BMW Shorties Returns to Celebrate its Tenth Year!

Kuala Lumpur, 9 September 2016 – BMW Group Malaysia today announced the tenth edition of the BMW Shorties, Malaysia’s most established and longest running short film competition. Returning for the tenth year, the prominent short film competition is appropriately themed “Journey” to commemorate its decade-long milestone.

11.12.2015 - 'Fish' by Gan Yu Long wins the BMW Shorties 2015 Grand Prize.

Kuala Lumpur, 11 December 2015 – The BMW Shorties awarded 'Fish', a short film by Gan Yu Long as its ninth winner at the BMW Shorties 2015 Awards Night. In addition to the coveted title of the BMW Shorties 2015 Grand Prize Winner, Gan Yu Long will also receive RM 75,000 in production grant from BMW Group Malaysia as well as guidance and mentorship from the panel of judges to make his next professional short film.

Kuala Lumpur, 22 October 2015 – BMW Group Malaysia premiered 'Terbit 23', the latest BMW Shorties production by 2014 grand prize winner, Taufiq Kamal. As with his last year's winning short film 'Rozita binti Roslan', Taufiq Kamal's newest short film further demonstrates his distinctive trademark film making technique of reimagining cinematic conventions and traditional narratives.
