2012 Grand Prize Winner

Chua Dick Woei, better known as Dick Chua, is the master of the thriller film genre in Malaysia. He was awarded the grand prize award for the BMW Shorties in 2012 with his short film ‘Murdered’. The winning short film was the first short film in the history of the BMW Shorties to be nominated and awarded six of the supporting award categories. After which, Dick Chua directed ‘Pizza’ with the production grant from the BMW Shorties. 

His passion for storytelling and filmmaking paved the way for his career and enabled him to serve as the backbone to many local productions. Through his own production company, D1 Productions, his portfolio includes projects ranging from festive web films and documentaries to  commercials such as the ever popular ‘5 Sekawan’ for Celcom, as well as brands including SP Setia, RHB Malaysia, and KFC Malaysia.
