When she joined the competition in 2010, Wen was a freelance video editor working for several production houses. Today, she is a renown documentary filmmaker and journalist. In the last decade, she has edited, filmed, wrote, produced and directed documentaries for Netflix, BBC, History Channel, Crime & Investigation Network, Euronews and CNA. Her documentary on female circumcision, The Hidden Cut, won the 2019 SOPA Awards for Excellence in Reporting on Women Issues. She is also a Pulitzer Center grantee.
Wen is an alumna of IDF Academy and American Film Showcase. In 2019, her debut feature documentary Eye on the Ball, about Malaysia’s blind football team premiered in London. Most recently, Wen’s #MeToo short documentary, The Boys Club, won the NETPAC Award during its world premiere at the Busan International Short Film Festival 2022. Currently, she is working on a documentary about marginalised communities in Malaysia, supported by Hot Docs.
